    Merry Christmas

It is Christmas today. Though it is a holiday imported from the western countries, we Chinese are celebrating it without knowing much about this religionary holiday. Some people disagree with this blind celebration, because they hold the view that it is not a patriotic action and they feel humiliating. However, others stick to their opinion that it is just a day for us to relax a bit and find a good reason to keep in touch with friends. From my point of view, as long as we still remember our traditional holidays and know who we are, it is not a bad idea to have fun on those special days, including the Valentines’ Day.

I have celebrated Christmas and that Valentines’ Day since my first in college. Let me see. that’s 7 years up to now. Whenever I talk with my friends about it, the happy memories will make me keep smiling the whole day. As time goes by, there are more and more different ways to celebrate festivals, such as eating out, playing in the parks or entertainment world, going to the recreational farms, watching movies, singing Karaoke or dancing in the ball. I did try some of them at a time and I tried another thing last night that is, having a singing party on the Internet with all the net friends. We are not only practicing or learning English there, but also singing and dancing, which brought us great fun. In particular when my friends sang beautiful songs and sent best regards to me, my eyes were filled with tears, for it made me realize how much I mean to them and how much they mean to me.

I spent the Christmas Eve on the Internet and hang out with my friends on Christmas, isn’t it nice? I made up my mind that I gotta do more exercise, which is also my new year resolution. I’m gonna go jogging three times a week in the morning and play badminton with my dear sister every third day in the evening and do some other indoor activities in case it will be rainy or windy. Hopefully I can keep healthy and stay in good condition the whole year. Anyway, action speaks louder than words. Let’s play it by ear!

Haste makes waste.

    Feel grateful

Sometimes people come into your life and you come to realize that they mean to be there to serve some sort of purpose, to teach you a lesson, or to help you figure out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people may be, but when you lock your eyes with them, you know soon that they will affect your life in some deep way.

And sometimes things happen to you that may seem terrible, painful and unfair at first, but in thought you find that without overcoming those obstacles you would have never realized your potential, strength, will or heart. Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of good luck. Illness, injury, love and success all take place to test the limits of your soul. Without these small tests, whatever they may be, life would be like a smooth, straight road to nowhere. It would be safe and comfortable, but dull and completely pointless.

The people you meet influence your life, and the success and downfalls you experience help to create who you are and who you become. Even the bad experiences can be learned from. In fact, they are probably the most important ones. If someone hurts you or breaks your heart, forgive them, for they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being careful when you open your heart, if someone loves, love them back, not only because they love to open your heart and eyes to things. Make every day meaningful. Appreciate every moment and take from those moments everything that you possibly can, for you may never be able to experience it again. Tell yourself you are great and believe in yourself, for it you don’t believe in yourself, it will be hard for others to believe in you.

    The Development of Women’s Profession

    The Development of Women’s Profession

As late as 1800, a woman’s only place was in her home. Women in business were unheard of. No respectable woman would dream of entering what was strictly a ‘man’s world’. Even if she would, what could she do? Men were sure that no woman could do a job well outside her home. This was a widely accepted idea. When the famous Bronte sisters began writing books in 1846, they had to resort to using men’s names as alias.

Teaching was the first profession opened to women soon after 1800. but even that was not easy for women to take because most high schools and colleges were open only to men. Oberlin College in Ohio was the first college in America to take in women.

Nursing was regarded as a respectable profession for women only after Florence Nightingale won high credit for her nursing career and became famous. Miss Nightingale opened the first training school for nursing in 1860 in England

The invention of typewriters in 1867 helped to bring women out of their homes to join the business world. Because women are careful and have nimble fingers, businessmen found that they were well suited to this kind of work.

By 1890, tens of thousands of women were working in schools, hospitals, shops, officers, and factories both in England and the States. Some even managed to become doctors or lawyers. This idea of women working in business and other circles was accepted.

I believe I can make it

I believe I can make it

I watched a warm and moving program performed by the disabled at a beautiful night, which hit me so much that I even couldn’t express

    my feelings.

They stand on the stage created by themselves, showing their special gifts in performance which calls for several or even more than ten years of hard work, I strongly believe “NO pains, no gains.” With no ability of speaking they can make us understand what their dream is; with no ability of hearing, they can dance to music; with no ability of walking, they also can be a successful man that many people can’t make. What’s on earth the power to support them to go on and make a great difference?

All the disabled have something in common, that is, they are confident and never say “give up” And I think they also take something sad easy. Because if one lets bygones be bygones and never faces the reality, he won’t succeed.

Disabled as they one, they can make their dreams come true. Aren’t we as healthy men weaker than them? No, everybody can do well if you make up your mind to do it.

Believe in yourself. You can make it!

With the development of science and technology, we are living a better and better life. However, every coin has two sides. Some of the people are taking good advantages of the high-tech while others are making use of it for some bad purposes. Here comes an example. I got the news on the TV that some students including some grown-ups, are trying to cheat in the exams, esp. CET-4 and CET-6, by using a special earphone, which can receive the radio, sent by some English experts. Through this earphone, they can get what they want-the answers to the questions on the paper-only if they can afford the payment to some helpful and practical organizations. Then the organization will hire some jobless experts to do the exercises and copy the answers. After that, they can broadcast the keys to the employers. In this way they can get away from being caught in cheating and it is safer than other ways. It is somewhat similar to A-bomb, which was invented by the scientist for helping people get more energy but people use it in the battlefield and it did great harm to us human beings. I cant say it is the fault of science just because our humans misusing it.

If we go against nature, we will be punished by it one day. Be careful and we want a better world.

lol

    Happy birthday

Hoho
